When The Bullied Kid Becomes The Tough Guy: Jeff Horn, An Idol Of Australian Boxing
Jeff Horn, born in Brisbane in 1988, has risen to the top of the boxing ranks in quick succession after claiming his first Australian title in 2009 at the age of 21. Competing in the 2012 London Olympics, he established a reputation as a premier boxer with a signature style and soon began to attract international attention.

Jeff Horn's Reason For Starting Boxing

As a boy, Horn had been victimised by bullying, and from this was determined to stand up for himself. After realising that developing his physical toolkit could help him fend off bullies and establish a new reputation for himself, Horn began boxing and trained extensively, eventually falling in love with the sport and going on to compete professionally.

Onwards And Upwards

By age 24, Horn had already competed in the Olympics and risen to the top of Australia’s boxing ranks.  In 2017, Horn’s fame rose even further, when he defeated Manny Macquiao in a controversial fight with a very close finish, and in 2018, won a much anticipated fight against Anthony Mundine in only 96 seconds.

A fight against Tim Tszyu (to determine the #1-ranked boxer in Australia) was originally scheduled for April 2020, but has now been postponed due to the Corona Virus pandemic.  We'll keep our eyes peeled as to when it's to be rescheduled.
